Sunshine Lovin’ Fun

Although the weather here in Ponder is a tad gloomy, summer is right around the corner! Thanks to the power of the internet and the copy and paste tool, I can tell you the Top 5 places to visit in Texas this summer. There are many different things to do, from visiting water parks to some of the most beautiful hiking trails you’ve ever seen!

Let’s jump in with a big splash, starting with Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark, which is home to the tallest water coaster in the world. The huge park lies on 26 acres of land, is divided into 3 sections, and is all connected by a mile-long river. Located at 2109 Lockheed Rd, Galveston, TX 77554.

If water isn’t your groove but having fun is, you’re in luck! San Antonio’s Six Flags Fiesta Texas holds some of the most crazy, wavy, flippy, floppy, fast rides imaginable. You’ve gotta check out the Dare Devil Dive, with loops and dives as you sit in a plane, flying through the air, a ride worth waiting for. The lines don’t have to put a hold on your fun, buy a flash pass and skip on all the waiting. Located at 17000W I-10, San Antonio, TX 78257.

Not liking the heights? Let’s get more down to Earth, way down, make a splash into Jacob’s Well. This swimming hole starts off with a 35, that’s right, 35ft decent before exposing you to a 120 foot angled cave system. Now, don’t fright, it’s not at all recommended to dive down that deep so just enjoy the spring water as you cool off in the hot Texas sun. Located in 1699 Mt. Sharp Road, Wimberley, TX 78676.

Moving on, if getting too deep or to high off the planet just isn’t the move, let’s stay on some solid ground. Huntsville State Park, with 21 miles of continuous trails and a 210 acre lake, this park is worth a visit. Offering fishing, swimming, hiking, kayaking, and camping! It’s time to put the plans in the books, Huntsville is located at 565 Park Road 40 W, Huntsville, TX 77340.

If you’re looking for just a nice day outside, an easy day, Donovan Park is your place. Built in 1996, this park was built by the community and was made with love, over the years this park has had some changes but still stands strong. Located in 700 Heights Blvd, Houston, TX 77007.
There are many more places to visit and even at-home activities to endure this summer, remember to have fun and stay safe!
