Ponder Lions Varsity Claws Back, But Falls Just Short Against Valley View

Despite a 5-run deficit in the fourth inning, Ponder Lions almost came all the way back, eventually falling 6-4 to Valley View on Friday. Ponder fell behind early in the loss. Valley View scored on a single by #14, a groundout by #3, and a home run by #9 in the second inning. Valley View evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning. Luke Johnson threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for Valley View. Valley View pulled away for good with four runs in the second inning. Ponder notched three runs in the fifth inning. Rodgers and Kade Irons powered the big inning with RBIs. Johnson took the loss for Ponder. The righthander allowed four hits and six runs over four innings, striking out six. Ponder tallied six hits on the day. Packard Smith and Logan Reynolds each had multiple hits for the Lions. Reynolds and Smith both had two hits to lead Ponder. Ponder stole eight bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Ashton Cross led the way with two.

The Valley View Eagles were no match for the Ponder JV Red Baseball Team as the Lions rolled to a 14-2 victory. Landon Hardin threw 5 strong innings for the Lions, getting the win. Most of the lineup had multiple hits for the Lions.
