Lady Lions Keep it Close with Keller

Lady Lions were up against a tough team, the Keller Indians on Tuesday, December 7th.  In the first quarter, our Lady Lions were shot down by a few points making the score out to be 11-7. But Ponder got back on their feet and kicked some butt which put them in the lead at the half with the score 24-18.  Then the Indians came out and got back on top of our Lady Lions in the 3rd quarter , getting up ahead to the score of  42-39.  In the fourth quarter, the Lady Lions came back and scored 12 to the Lady Indian’s 9 to tie the game at 51.  Next up was overtime, but Ponder didn’t have enough steam to get the win, and Keller takes the win in OT, 61-58.  What an amazing game, though!  Leading the team were seniors, Kassie Ballard with 26 points, followed by Tate Wells with 15, Marlee Moynagh with 11, Kenzie Cider with 4 and finally freshmen Skye Gill with 2 points.

In the Junior Varsity game, Devyn Weiland led the Lady Lions with 20 points, but even with that outstanding showmanship, it wasn’t enough to put them over the top.  The JV Lady Lions ended up falling to the JV Lady Indians 42-32.  Other scores for Ponder were Kaelyn Williams with 7, Sophia Vargas with 6, and Olivia Todd with 1.  The JV Lady Lions go to 2-3 on the season.

Next up both teams will face S&S on December 14th.  This will be the first district game.
