Senior Spotlight with Joe Green

Kylie Brinkman, reporter

When you hear the name Mean Joe Green, you may think of the pro football player who thrilled your grandparents or parents in the late 60’s, 70’s and 80’s at UNT and with the Steelers.  Or maybe the famous Coke commercial with Mean Joe Green throwing his jersey at the young fan.  But at PHS, we have our own Mean Joe Green who has attended Ponder ISD for 6 years.  He has loved having tutorials with Mrs. Murphey, plus he couldn’t pick just one favorite teacher- he has three favorites: Coach Threadgill, Mrs. Wallum, and Mrs. J.  He doesn’t really have a favorite type of music and really likes a little bit of everything, but his theme song is “Girls” by the Beastie Boys.   When he has some free time, he might head over to Cici’s or Panda Express to grab a bite to eat, or he could be found hanging out watching Remember the Titans, The Andy Griffith Show, or reading Where the Red Fern Grows.  Someday he hopes to backpack across Europe, but he could use his dream car, a Volkswagen Bus, for his RV.  He would have to expand this trip to the continent of Australia to see his spirit animal, the koala.  Even though Joe is a strong guy, he would want his superpower to be super strength.  Of all the characters he could choose to be, he couldn’t choose between two- Genie from Aladdin or Donkey from Shrek.  (I’m thinking Genie, definitely)  His ideal dinner companions would be JJ Watt, Teddy Roosevelt, Whitney Houston, and Will Smith.
