Lady Lions Blast Bearcats in 5 Sets

Mason Pittman, Reporter

The Ponder Lady Lions Volleyball team had an amazing victory over Pilot Point this week in a close victory taking it all the way to 5 sets and bring their district record to 3-1. In the first set, the Lady Lions came out ready to win and did so with a marginal victory 26-24. In the second set, the Lady Bearcats came back with a strong win 19-25. The ping-pong like victories continued with the Lady Lions taking the 3rd set with a little bit of deja vu and the same score as the second  25-19, and again, the Lady Bearcats came back with the 4th set,  16-25.  Now it all came down to the final set. As it had been going, it would seem the odds were in favor of the Lady Lions, but of course, nothing is certain in the game of volleyball.  The Lady Lions dug down deep in their reserves and found the strength to pull out another and final victory, sealing the game by dominating the 5th set, 15-8. The stat leaders for the game were the following:

Philomina Klotz- 6 kills, 8 blocks, 2 aces, 6 digs
Olivia Todd- 6 kills
Jasmine Taylor- 4 kills, 10 digs, 2 blocks
Kaelyn McWilliams- 17 digs
The Lady Lions will travel to Callisburg on Friday, September 24th to try and continue their winning streak!
