Ponder Lady Lions Lose Dogfight to Decatur Lady Eagles

On Monday, November 9th, the Ponder Lady Lions basketball team wet up against the Decatur Eagles at Decatur.  This game was back and forth through THREE overtimes with Decatur narrowly securing the lead in the third OT.  The first quarter was close Decatur leading 14-12, but the Lady Lions outscored them in the second 11-9 to bring the halftime score to a tie at 23. The second half started off sluggish with Ponder pulling a slight lead outscoring Decatur 5-4.  The fourth quarter was a battle and Decatur outscored Ponder 13-12 tying up the game.  On to overtime…in the first two overtimes, each team score the same to keep it tied (1 OT- 3 pts. each, 2 OT- 7 pts. each), but the final OT decided it all with Decatur pulling out the win with 8 points to Ponder’s 5, for a final score of 58-55.  What a game it was!  The Lady Lions never quit and worked the whole game.   Scorers for PHS were Marlee Moynagh(JR) with a score of 5, Tate Wells(SO) 10, Kassi Ballard(JR) 9, Karly Ivy(JR) 10 and Kenzie Crider(JR) 6. The Lady Lions now have a record of 1-1.  Next up Lady Lions play against Breckenridge in Ponder @ 6:30 on Friday, November 13th.
