Ponder’s Sorrowful Loss to Brock

We all know that Brock is a formidable opponent,  but the Lions played well regardless. We lost 56-19 but held our own against the best 3A team in the whole state. We got the ball first and on the very first drive, we got a huge 42 yard run by Terrance Clark that set us up in the red zone for a QB keeper in the end zone with Chase Taylor. We kicked the ball to Brock, and they scored on their first three plays just like us, and then they got the ball back on a Lion turnover and scored again. Our team only scored one more touchdown at the half as Brock led 34-13.

When we got back from halftime we had confidence we could beat them, and we scored on our first drive back.  It seemed things were looking up for us. But then it was just more of the same as they proved why they’re the number one 3A team and the best in our district. They didn’t have as much offensive success in the 2nd half, as we had “a bend, but don’t break”, defense, and  it took them 6+ plays to score each drive with each being 3 minutes each.

It was a pretty good game by Ponder. We play Pilot Point this week, and judging by the way we played last week I think we have a great shot at putting a pounding on the Point.
