Crushing Loss to the Mustangs

Crushing Loss to the Mustangs

Jerrett Deweber, reporter

The Ponder Lions suffered a devastating triple overtime loss last week against City View. It was a hard fought battle as the score was 34-36. The first half we were down 20-8, and it looked as if City View might just leave us in the dust, but our team wasn’t going to let that happen. We held City View’s offense to no scores in the second half while we tied it all up late in the 4th. In overtime Chase Taylor and Terrance Clark held it down by scoring two touchdowns, but we failed the two-point conversion on a controversial call, where the official ruled it short, for the most heart wrenching loss of the year.  After reviewing the film, many, including some of the coaches, felt it was the wrong call and that Chase Taylor was in end zone.  However tough this defeat was, the Lions will not let it stop us from whupping up on the Nocona Indians!
