The Lady Lion Volleyball team is off to a bumpy start for 2020.  Like all crazy things this year, it is an unexpected twist for volleyball fans who are used to the team starting off with a winning record.  The Lady Lions began their season with a double header against Celina and Decatur losing to both teams.  They kept it competitive with Celina with four sets (20-25, 20-25, 26-24, 17-25) and then three sets with Decatur (12-25, 3-25, and 14-25).  Harper Mulkey led with 15 kills and 13 digs, and 2 blocks, while Cordie Ford followed with 11 kills and 18 digs in the Celina game, and Mulkey contributed 8 kills and 8 digs in the Decatur game.
Against Nocona, the Lady Lions again fell short 13-25, 16-25, 19-25), but Mulkey and Ford again led with a combined 15 kills and 20 digs, respectively.   A strong Gunter team was waiting in the wings for them next, and as always they came to play.  The Lions lost this one, but gave it their all (23-25, 8-24, 19-25).  Mulkey had 8 kills, 5 digs, and 1 block, while Ford had 5 kills, and Averee Tipton had 17 assists in her first game of the season after an injury.

Lindsay traveled to Ponder to take on the Lady Lions on August 25th and left with a victory (21-25, 18-25, 21-25).  The Lady Lions kept it close, but just couldn’t pull it out in the end.  Gracie Perryman was the star of the show with 6 kills, 3 aces, and 3 blocks. Last Friday, August 28th, the Lady Lions took on Sanger and came out with a much needed win.  The team took it in four sets (25-19, 25-15, 22-25, 25-16) with Mulkey, Ford, and Perryman combining for 26 kills and 59 digs.  Nice work!  Now coming off a win, the ladies take on the Argyle Eagles on Tuesday at 5:00.
