Lady Lions Season Comes to an End

Hayden Simmons, Sports Guy

On Friday, February 21st the Lady Lions basketball team traveled Sachse high school for their area playoff match-up against Edgewood Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Lions struggled against the Edgewood pressure early in the game, but was able to hold the Lady Bulldogs to just 2 points in the 2nd quarter and take a 15-14 lead into halftime. Edgewood continued to apply pressure throughout the second half, and were able to pull ahead late in the 4th quarter and defeat the Lady Lions 40-30. Sophomores Tate Wells and Karly Ivy led the team in scoring with 11 points. The Lady Lions finish the season with a 24-11 record and their first outright district championship in 9 years. The Lady Lions and the Roar want to thank the lone senior Kelley Akins for four years of dedication and hard work, and being a great representation of what it means to be a Ponder Lady Lion. You gave us some great memories and it was a joy to watch you play. We are very proud of what the Lady Lions accomplished this season and are excited to see what they will accomplish in the future.
