The Ponder Lions kicked of their season with two great scrimmages. The first scrimmage was against Whitewright the guys played strong defense making the opposing team turn the ball over four times, and kept them out of the end zone. Chase Taylor and Terrance Clark led the offense to scoring two touch downs, while moving the ball well. The boys played great ball on both defensive and offensive sides, with some experiencing their first few possessions on varsity. Unfortunately towards the end of the scrimmage Ashton McCall, who is the strong safety, injured his shoulder and will be expected to be gone for several weeks.

As for their second scrimmage, although it started off slow it ended great for the Ponder Lions. The opposing team, Lake Worth, gave them many things to improve on for both defense and offense sides before their first game against Howe this Friday. Coach Bowling says he is proud of his team and of their effort and is ready to prepare his boys for their game against the Bulldogs.
