Musacchio Makes History

Tony Jacinto, reporter

This year Julia Musacchio was successful in going to state for two different activities, tennis and choir. Throughout the 2018-19 year Julia has gone 26-4 for the tennis season and dominated all the competitors in district and managed to beat a girl she’s never beaten, who was also a previous state qualifier, 6-4 7-5. This  lead to Julia securing a spot in the state tournament held at college station. After lots of tears and hugs at regionals Julia was proud to say she will be the first in ponder Tennis history to qualify for state girls singles and has since continued to push and train to hopefully win state for her family and school.  In addition, Julia had a long ride with her choir team and has come a long way from singing in Carnegie Hall in  New York to now being a state qualifier for 3A choir. She started her trip by singing “Danza Danza Fanciulla Gentile,” in solo and on ensemble and got a 1 on her piece, scored from 1-4, which got her into the state performance held at Austin. Since then Julia has been taking lessons and making sure she gets 1st in state for choir. Her last few weeks of senior year have been packed with training for both events, and we are all supporting her here at Ponder High School.  Good luck in both events, Julia!
