On Friday, March 29th the Ponder Lady Lions softball team took on the Pottsboro Lady Cardinals in a huge district 9-3a game. The Lady Lions entered the game with a 2-4 record and tied for 4th in the district with Whitesboro, who was on a bye, and Pottsboro entered in 3rd with a record of 3-3. The Lady Lions took an early 3-0 lead with a run in the 2nd  inning and two more in the 3rd, and played great defense behind pitcher Braidyn Burr the remainder of the game to get the 6-1 win. Burr was dominant on the rubber, giving up just 4 hits and striking out 6. Most of the Lady Lions runs were result of Pottsboro errors, but Seniors Kaylie Howell and Kara Paddock were each credited with an RBI. It was a huge win for the team, as it moved them from tied for the final playoff spot to tied for 3rd in the district. The Lady Lions face a big test on the road on Tuesday as they take on the 7-0 Lady Tigers of Gunter, who topped the Lady Lions 10-6 in the first round of district play.
