The Lions lost a tough one last week against the Howe Bulldogs on Friday, August 31st. The Lions fought hard but came  up short losing just 21 to 18. The leading rushers for the week were Mason Durrett and Chase Taylor with 96 and 33 yards. The Lions combined for a total of 173 rushing yards on 33 carries. Ponder only had one turnover with a total of 6 punts a total possession time of 22:07. The lions had a total of 86 receiving yards to Darren Kelly, Oscar Martinez, and Juan Zepeda. The Howe JV game went very well. They started out slow on offense and defense, but kept the Bulldogs out of the end zone all game. According to Coach Threadgill, the main idea was to focus on the run offense and gap sound defense. The score was 12-0 with both scores punched in on long, offensive drives. Colton Adler was 2-2 on passes, while the running backs and fullbacks accumulated several hundred rushing yards. The defense played unselfish, swarming football that caused three turnovers. Players of the game were Juke Kelly, Bobby Rushing, and Colton Adler.
