Meet the Lady Singing Her Way Into the School

Mrs. Lavacek is the new choir teacher humming her way into her students’ hearts. She has been accompanying and teaching choirs for 12 years. She first started out teaching in Indiana before moving to Texas and ultimately staying here working with many different choirs. She has a husband and 2 children; her husband teaches music theory at UNT and her children are in 3rd grade and Pre-K. Mrs. Lavacek loves making music with students and showing them that anything is possible. She is currently teaching four choirs this year and is very excited to elevate the choir program to a higher level of expertise. Mrs. Lavacek has the ability to brighten up her students’ days just by being in her class! She believes that just being in her class and interacting with others to make something together is better than doing it alone. A quote that Mrs. Lavacek lives by is “It’s not about being perfect. It’s about the effort, and when you bring that effort every single day, that’s when transformation happens. That’s how change occurs.” – Jillian Michaels
